Artists in Residence [2013]

Our Artist-in-Residence programs trade on our power of place, welcoming artists from around the world to Denmark. We are pleased to welcome the following artists to our community this summer. Stop in and say Hi!


Kumi Yamashita
In residence July 26 – August 2

Back in Denmark for a third year, artist Kumi Yamashita uses the simplest of materials to create stunningly complex results. Her most recent work is currently hanging in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery, and her other work inhabits collections and museums around the world. Tara Karpinski / Cecilia Hendrix
In residence July 28 – August 12

Members of the Amsterdam-based Pink Pony Express artist collective, Karpinski and Hendrikx create work that responds to social and environmental conditions in specific community contexts. Ted McGrath
In residence August 20 – 27

Ted McGrath is an artist and musician based in Brooklyn, NY. He has created illustrations for clients around the world, including MTV, The New York Times, New York Magazine, TIME, WIRED, Glamour, Bloomberg Business Week, and more. He has also taught illustration and design at Pratt Institute and Maryland Institute College of Art. More at www.tedmcgrath.com

Lauren Utvich
In residence August 20 – 27

Lauren Utvich is a food advocate and entrepreneur based in Brooklyn, NY. A double graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the French Culinary Institute, Ms. Utvich is most recently the founder of Farm-to-Baby, an organic baby-food company based in New York.
