PHILIPPA DUNNE-LUTENIST SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 at 3PM
An Italian Baroque composer follows his lass to Scotland. Theorist and lutenist Vincenzo Galilei, Galileo’s father, experiments with string lengths and pitches in his basement. The oud lands in Hispania, gains a string, and eventually finds its way into the hands of the trouvères.
Philippa will play the music created in these journeys, including traditional airs that were taken up by Baroque composers, and Baroque compositions that made their way into traditional music, on lute and concertina, some with her own interpretations.
